Tiger Diaspora funding the TNA election campaigns in Jaffna and Vavuniya

 President of the Tamil Writer’s Association Mr. V. Thangavelu and former Trincomalee Urban Council member Mr. Veerasubramaniam appeared on a talk show on TVI, a Tiger Television media in Toronto and openly canvassed for money for the TNA election campaign. Mr. Thangavelu said  that they, the Tiger Diaspora, had already collected a large sum of money in the US and Canada and sent it to the TNA (Tiger Nominated Agents) Jaffna Office, to be used for the election campaign.

They also asked the viewers to contact their relatives and friends in Jaffna and Vavuniya and ask them to vote for the TNA. Therefore, TNA is still the Tiger Nominated Alliance (Tiger Proxies)  as before. Although the TNA is campaigning on the ground as though they had nothing to do with the Tigers, they are still very much part of the Tigers, as the Tiger Diaspora is still funding them. The Tiger Diaspora was funding Prabaharan and clang to purchase arms and ammunitions to destroy Sri Lanka and its people in the past. Now they are funding the TNA so that they could win the elections and disturb the people and the country for their own survival and extend the agony of the Tamils.

If the 22 TNA parliamentarians could not speak to the Sri Lanka  President all these years and find a solution for the Tamil people, how are they going to do it after the Municipal  and Urban Council elections?

After the elections, the people of Jaffna will not be able to see any of these people. They will be in India, UK, Australia or Canada looking after their own affairs and family matters, like children’s education, marriage etc. 

Once again the Tamils will have to face the same old problems. This is what these politicians have been doing for years. These TNA politicians are like the vendors, who come from the South to North for the historic Nallur festival. Once the festival season is over they pack up and leave and you will be able to see them only during the next festival season. In the same manner once the elections are over, these candidates, who are also a kind of vendors will disappear and come back for the next elections to sell their goods with the same promises, thinking  that the Tamils have a short memory.  Tamils must have learnt from the past bitter experiences and would be sensible enough to distinguish between a hypocrite and the genuine candidate – and vote for them in future.

The TNA (Tiger Nominated Agents) is once again taking the people for a ride in Jaffna and in Vavuniya.  Its 22 members became parliamentarians in the last parliamentary election. People in the North and East voted them in, believing them that they will represent the Tamil community in Parliament and will speak up for them. But what happened is that these 22 Tiger Nominated Agents used all the opportunities to speak only for their masters, the LTTE, and not for the Tamil community at all. TNA and its members missed all the opportunities they had in the Parliament to bring the grievances of the Tamil population to the attention of the National Assembly, to explain and win the confidence of the majority community members who were sitting just in front of them in parliament. Instead they danced to the tune of the LTTE.  The TNA did this until the last minute and its still dying hard to do this even at this juncture.

The TNA instead of using their good office to meet the people, who voted them and listen to their grievances, shunned them and were fighting to get appointments to meet the LTTE high command in Killinochchi and the fight was all about as to who would be the first to meet the LTTE’s brutal leader. This seems to be the healthiest competition between the members of Tamil Parliamentarians elected by the people and for the people of the North and East.  

The second top most priority of these Tiger Nominated Agents in Parliament was to visit every capitol of the world and promote its leader and his philosophy of terror. The next top most priority was to turn the Tamil Diaspora in support of their master’s Terrorist network and the main reason for this was for their own survival and luxurious life style and also to keep the established Terrorist infrastructure alive throughout the world. No doubt these elected parliamentarians of the Tiger Nominated Agents have done their job to their best of ability and knowledge for their Master who selected them. But what does this really means to the people of the North and East? Have they ever produced any constructive political results or negotiated with the Government of Sri Lanka for a peaceful solution to live within the country peacefully? Or did they ever try to meet their constituents to get their say instead of propagating what their elected master ordered them?  Have they ever thought of being united either with their own Tamil community or with the Sinhala community? Instead, all they did was to preach and spread hatred among their own Tamil community. Rather than demonstrating constructive politics, they brought not only destructions to the Tamil community but also to the whole of Sri Lanka.

Now the question before the Tamil Diaspora is whether we, the Tamil community,  should now follow the same old destructive policy and politics or adopt and transform ourselves to new constructive policies which will strengthen our community to gain and bargain our political rights with the majority community through negotiations. And the second question is whether these same old Tiger Nominated Members are really eligible to do this or do we elect members who are able to engage and communicate effectively with the government and persuade and influence their friends within the Government who can listen to them?

 A vote is not just a paper to mark and insert inside the Ballot box.    In a democracy a VOTE is the most powerful tool, which gives us the right to convey our opinion. A VOTE is not all about politics; it is to change the dimension of Politics. Let this time your VOTE change our destructive Politics into Constructive Politics. Let your VOTE bring meaningful solution to the deprived Tamil people who are longing for peace and development. VOTE for the party who really cares for you and your children. VOTE for the leader who stays with you during your hard times
