How Prabhakaran shot dead Mahattaya near 'Red Chilly Garden!...

The details of the murder of former LTTE Deputy Leader, Mahendrarajah alias Mahattaya is now being revealed by LTTE men in Germany. Reports from Germany state that Baskaran,a close associate of Prabhakaran from childhood in Velvettithurai had unfolded the long kept secret.Baskaran worked in a Tamil magazine in Jaffna and later for a Tamil daily in Colombo before proceeding to Germany after the killing of Mahattaya. According to Baskaran's revelation, Mahattaya had continuously objected to LTTE killings of innocent Sinhalese living in border villages and that of Tamils opposed to the LTTE. The view point of Mahattaya had angered Prabhakaran and the rift between the two had widened.

According to Baskaran, Mahattaya had been personally shot dead by Prabhakaran at a location close to the 'Red Chilly Garden' in the thick jungles of Mullaitivu. The 'Red Chilly Garden' (the location of red chilly production of the LTTE agriculture farm) had been close to one of Prabhakaran's underground mansions in that jungle.Prabhakaran has also had an underground cold storage close to that location where imported and local chocolates and king coconuts were stored for the consumption of his children and 'some' cadres in his inner circle.

Dilip Yogaratnam alias Yogi,onetime active LTTE leader with Rahim (later killed during the early stages of the war) is aware of this underground cold store,Baskaran has said.Prabakaran also punished Yogi for dissenting views and ordered him to coach cricket at a Jaffna school for five years.Yogi was a popular cricketer in Jaffna before he joined the LTTE.Later, Yogi was entrusted with administrative duties of the LTTE, Baskaran has said.

Mahendraraja alias Mahattaya was a policeman attached to the Maharagama Police who was the telephone operator at that station before he joined the LTTE. He was reportedly married to a Sinhalese woman.
