To Whom to Vote For in the Coming President Election?

We are the Sri Lankan Tamil Speaking People  

1)      This is the first president election after the total defeat of the Fascist and Mafia Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) or the Tamil Tigers. This organization is very close to another criminal organization like “Kosovo Liberation Front” (KLF) in its character and actions.  

2)       The current president Hon. Mahinda Rajapakse is contesting with the full support of the Democratic and progressive forces of Sri Lanka. 

3)      One of the other contestants against the president is Ex-Army Chief Mr.Sarath Fonseka. He is contesting the president election without any previous political experiences or any party membership. But he is backed by the reactionary and the rightist, United National Party (UNP) and a racist Janatha Vimuthi Peramuna (JVP) and both of them have lost the max. support of the people. 

4)      Under these circumstances the majority of the Tamils speaking people have to take a firm decision, to whom to vote for? Now it is a very important and urgent question in front of them. In the last election (in 2005), they were forcefully prevented from the voting under the threat of the LTTE guns. In the last election Tamil people lost their fundamental Democratic Rights. Now the people have regained their rights with the total annihilation of the LTTE under the firm leadership of the President Mahinda Rajapakse (in May 2005).  

5)      Tamil Eelam or Separation in Sri Lanka is not achievable and is an unrealistic dream. Now this dream was smashed by the total defeat of the Mafia Tamil Tigers.  

6)      Now the one and only solution in front of the Tamil people is to find an amicable solution for the ethnic conflict in a united Sri Lanka. To achieve this aim, we have to choose the president who can be very trusted and is a democrat, patriot, and an anti-imperialist. Now we hope that you can make a proper decision under the above-mentioned order.   

The  Collaboration  of  Ex. Major  General  Sarath  Fonseka  with the reactionary and rightist  UNP and the racist  JVP  is a great  threat to the future. The Ex- Army chief  has not only fought  against  the  Terrorist  LTTE,  but has  also  acted   against  the  Tamil  people as both a  racist and a warmonger.  At  the  height of  the  Eelam  war  4  (from Aug 2006  to  May 2009) he  went  on  record  with  assertions like,  “I  strongly  believe  that  this   country   belongs  to  Sinhalese  (majority)  and  the  minority  communities (Tamils, Muslims, Burghers and etc.)"  “Can live  in this  country  with  us  but  they  must  not  try to, under the pretext  of  being  a  minority, demand  undue  things.” He gave this interview to the “National Post “which is published in Canada. In addition, his  political  sponsors  like UNP and JVP  have  been  acting  against  the Tamil  people  since the past  and the present. Particularly   the  United National   Party   has  cruelly  acted  against  the Tamil Masses  from  the beginning  as  a  political  party.

1. Immediately  after  the  freedom was  gained  from   the  British, the first  government  was  captured  by   the  UNP.  This  is  the   same   government   which  has  initiated  the  Sinhala-Colonization  in the Eastern  province of  Tamil  Territory. 

2. The  same  UNP   Government  which  was  led  by D.S. Senanayake  removed  the Voting  Rights  and  Citizenship  of  the Up country  Tamils  who were brought  by the  British  Imperialists from  South India  to  develop   and  work  in their  Tea and Rubber  plantation  in  18^th century. 

3. The racist and  reactionary  UNP has  opposed  the  Bandaranayake and Selvanayagam Fact, which  has  brought  to  settle  down  the minority  problem  under the  Regional  Government  Act in 1957. They have manipulated the Buddhist clergy to rebel  against  this reasonable and just solution to the problem.  Then it was forced to abandon its implementation. 

4. The  same  UNP  reactionaries  and  its  Ex. president  President   Premadasa  worked  against  the  Indo –Lanka  Accord   and   destabilized  the  North-Eastern  Provincial  Government  with the support   of   the  Mafia  LTTE Tamil Tigers. 

5. Then  in   2000  Ex. president  Mrs. Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga  try to  initiate   the  abolition of  the Unitary  Set  up  and  bring  a  permanent  settlement  to  the  North-Eastern   Regional  Council in favour   of  Tamils. But  the So called  Anti –Tamil UNP  which is  collaborated  with  the racist   JVP, Hela  Urumaya , LTTE or Tamil Tigers  and  even  with Tamil  United  liberation  Front(TULF)  burned the document   in the parliament  and  by  force to stop   its  implementation. 

6. The present   government organized   the all party conference to solve the ethnic problem. But at the same time, UNP and JVP have boycotted it. The JVP further asked the government to relinquish it permanently. 

7. All  the other than the above  mentioned, the  same UNP  reactionaries  and  racists  has  initiated ,participated  and  led  genocide  consecutively  against the Tamil  masses  in  1958,1977,1981,1983.

This well known cruelty and established fact was never removed from the minds of the Tamil masses. 

8. Now  the  UNP and  JVP are  concentrated only  in  the  abolition  of  the Presidential  system and  the  implementation  of  17^th  Amendment . But  they  are really  not  interested  in  solving  demands of  the minorities . 

9. If   by  chance   Ex. Major  General   Sarath  Fonseka  is  elected  as  president, then  there  is  no  possibility to give  up the captured  power  any more. Then it will lead to a dictatorship of the Military Government. Then it may be very close to the governments of Pakistan and Burma. Not  only  this, the  minorities,  particularly   the  Tamils  have  to  lose  all of   their  democratic  rights  under  the  dictatorship  of  Military  and  will  be suppressed  more  than  ever.  
 
The Creative and Democratic Leadership of President Mahinda Rajapakse    

1. We  hope  that  it  is  not  fair  to compare   the political  value   of   a  person  like Honorable President  Mahinda  Rajapakse   with  an Ex. Army  man,  Sarath  Fonsenka because  the  president  has been involved  in social  and  political  activities  at an early age. Not only that, he is currently the president of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP).  It is the only party which is the great, patriotic and anti- imperialist party in Sri Lanka.  In  the start it  is led by the great patriotic and anti-imperialist Hon. S.W.R.D. Banadaranayake and then by his wife, Mrs. Srimao  Banadaranayake,  who was the world's  first  woman  prime minister and then  their daughter,  Mrs. Santhirika  Bandaranayake.  All  the above  mentioned  leaders have tried  to find  a solution to the ethnic conflict  in the past  which  will  lead  Mahinda   Rajapakse  to  follow  the foot path of  his party  leaders to find  an  amicable  solution  to the conflict  very soon. 

2. The present government under the leadership of Mahinda R. has  achieved  a  great victory  over  the  notorious  and  worldwide Mafia,  Tamil  Tigers. This terrorist group has existed for more than 25yrs without an end. In  the  past  no other leaders  have  succeeded  in  safeguarding  the  Tamil people from clutch  of  the Tigers. Now the present government is doing its best to resettle the displaced people and developing the economy of the Tamil people. There is no parallel to this victory achieved by any other leaders since the independence of Sri Lanka. 

3.Hon. President  Rajapakse has accepted most  of  the recommendation of  the All party conference  and  he is  prepared  to implement the 13^th  Amendment  beyond  its limits 

4.He  has been  a human right Activist for a long time  and importantly,  an  ardent  supporter  of  Palestinian  people.

Therefore  the  Tamil  people have to vote  for the current  president  Mahinda  Rajapakse  without  any  hesitation. This will help  the president   to continue his  task to solve  the ethnic  conflict  forever  and  safeguard  the freedom  of  the country and the people of  our mother Lanka. It is our prime duty to save our people and our country from the Imperialist conspiracy. The patriotic people of   Sri Lanka will  defeat  the  UNP, JVP,TNA and all  the other traitors, especially the  pro –imperialist  Army man  Sarath  Fonseka who is contesting  in  the coming  election.
